Linux mirror updates

leave a comment »

This post is specifically targeted for Cyberjaya campus students who are looking for a place to update their Linux OS with a locally hosted mirror. These mirrors are either hosted in campus or in Cyberjaya and should serve as a better reference to update your OS if you’re living inside or nearby. Currently available Linux OS updates are: CentOS, Fedora Core (4-6), Debian, Slackware and Gentoo.

If you’re not living in campus, then VPN or bring your laptop on to campus at the Wifi spots.

For on campus, we currently only have a CentOS server repository which updates the OS. Please edit the following in your yum config:

[base]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Base
#mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=os
#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/os/$basearch/
baseurl=http://10.102.63.231/centos/$releasever/os/$basearch/
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RP -GPG-KEY-centos4

#released updates
[update]
name=CentOS-$releasever – Updates
#mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch&repo=updates
#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/updates/$basearch/
baseurl=http://10.102.63.231/centos/$releasever/os/$basearch/
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://mirror.centos.org centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-centos4
For the Cyberjaya mirror, which currently supports updates for Fedora Core (4-6), Debian, Slackware and Gentoo. See the Open Source Competency Centre Cyberjaya mirror for more information.
